Technology Integration
Built on Systems You Own

A Kansas City integrator for physical security, networks, and the software that connects them. Access control and video are where we go deepest, and because we write the code ourselves, we can usually connect systems another installer would call incompatible.

What We Do

Physical security is the core of what we do, and the cabling, networking, and software behind it are part of the same job. We also service equipment another company installed.

Access Control & Physical Security

Card and fob entry that keeps working when the internet goes down, because the doors decide locally.

  • Doors unlock on site, not in a data center
  • Add or revoke a credential in seconds
  • Schedules, holidays, and after-hours rules
  • Every entry logged, searchable, and yours to keep

Cameras & Video

New camera systems or additions to what you have, recording on site rather than in somebody's cloud.

  • ONVIF cameras, no proprietary lock-in
  • On-site recording, nothing streamed out by default
  • Badge events linked to the footage
  • Motion and object detection on the local box

Networks, Cabling & Wireless

The low-voltage infrastructure underneath all of it, done to the same standard as the visible parts.

  • Structured cabling, clean terminations, tidy racks
  • Switching, PoE, and VLANs sized for the building
  • Wireless coverage surveys and access points
  • Camera and door networks kept off your office LAN

Custom Software & Integrations

We write the software, so systems that "don't integrate" usually turn out to.

  • Connect equipment and software that shipped without APIs for each other
  • Dashboards and reports built around how you actually work
  • Automation for the steps somebody is doing by hand
  • Data pushed into the reporting tools you already run

Working With What You Own

We would rather keep your equipment in service than sell you replacements for it.

  • Keep working cameras, panels, and readers running
  • Tie existing systems together instead of ripping them out
  • Service and repair hardware another installer put in
  • A straight answer when something really is past saving

Service & Support

One flat monthly fee covers the software, hosting, and remote help.

  • Request service in one tap from your phone
  • Remote response next business day, included
  • We see equipment faults before you call
  • On-site work quoted and billed by the hour

How a Job Goes

Three steps, with something concrete delivered at the end of each one. The process is the same for eight doors, a camera retrofit, or a software integration.

1

Walk it

We come out and look at the actual building and the actual systems. Most sites have more usable cable in the walls and more life left in their equipment than the owner expects.

Key Activities

  • Look at each door, camera position, and cable path
  • Trace what the last installer left and what still works
  • Check network drops, switch capacity, and power
  • Sort out which doors are code-required egress
  • Agree on what is in scope and what can wait

Deliverables:

A point-by-point list of what each door, camera, run, or integration needs. The walkthrough costs nothing.

2

Quote it

One number, itemized, with the hardware named. You will know the make and model of every reader, camera, lock, and switch before anyone drills a hole.

Key Activities

  • Itemized hardware list at the part-number level
  • Labor quoted per door or per drop, with a firm total
  • Any monthly fee stated plainly with what it covers
  • A wiring and termination plan the crew can execute
  • Half down at signing, balance when it works

Deliverables:

A fixed-price quote you can compare line by line against anyone else's.

3

Build it

Licensed low-voltage crews pull the wire. We design it, commission it, and stay until your people can run it without calling us.

Key Activities

  • Licensed subcontractors handle wire and conduit
  • We commission and test every device ourselves
  • Credentials loaded, schedules set, staff trained
  • You get the administrator logins, and they stay yours
  • On access jobs we pull the network cable and prove doors still open

Deliverables:

A working system, your own administrator access, as-built documentation, and a spare parts plan.

What You Get Working With Us

You own the hardware

The panels, readers, cameras, and switches are yours, bought outright. Nothing is leased, and nothing stops working because a subscription lapsed.

No per-door billing

One flat monthly fee for the account, however many doors, cameras, or credentials you add. Add a door next year and the monthly fee stays where it is.

Nobody gets locked in

The software is open source. Take it in house or hand it to another integrator and it keeps working, with your data intact.

About 816tech

A Kansas City technology integrator with sixteen years of experience designing and installing the systems we sell.

Our Story

We have sixteen years in this trade, most of it on the integration side: specifying access control and video systems, installing them, and commissioning them. That work ran from a single laundromat to multi-building campuses to enterprises with sites in several states, so we know what holds up at one door and what holds up at a thousand.

A few of those years were spent on the distribution side, selling to other installers, which is where you find out what generates service calls two years after handover. The same complaints kept coming back. Cloud systems stopped working when the internet did. Per-door software fees grew every time somebody added a reader. Customers could not touch their own equipment, because the software belonged to whoever sold it to them.

So we build what we would want in our own building: decisions made on site, hardware you own outright, and open-source software, so no vendor can hold your building hostage, including us. When two systems refuse to talk to each other, we write the code that makes them, which most integrators cannot do.

What Sets Us Apart

Sixteen years installing these systems

Mostly integration work, on sites ranging from single small businesses to enterprises operating in several states. We have specified this equipment, installed it, and been called back when it failed.

The designer commissions the job

No account manager handing you off, and no tier-one queue. Whoever walks your building is who sets the system up and who picks up the phone afterward.

We write the software

Unusual for an integrator, and it means the integrations other shops decline are ordinary work here, including equipment that shipped with no way to talk to anything else.

Credentials & Partnerships

Insured

General liability and errors & omissions coverage; certificate available on request

Code-aware

Egress stays mechanical and fire release runs through listed power supplies

Licensed crews on the wire

Conduit and cable pulled by licensed low-voltage contractors carrying their own insurance

Kansas City Based

Serving the Kansas City metro and the surrounding area. Close enough to walk your building this week, and to be on site the same week when something needs a hand on it.

What You Can Hold Us To

Three things, in writing, on every job.

Your equipment is yours

You buy the hardware outright. Nothing is leased, and nothing stops working if you stop paying us.

Fixed prices, named parts

You see the make and model of every component before work starts, with labor quoted per door or per drop instead of open-ended.

No lock-in, ever

The software is open source. Take it in house or hand it to another integrator and it keeps working, with your data intact.
